Kokedama Workshop by Little Wild Things at The Hive NEW DATE
Time & Location
About The Event
Originating from Japan, the word “kokedama” translates as “moss ball". The art form of kokedama, deriving from Bonsai, involves carefully removing the root system from a living plant’s container, before surrounding it in a special soil mix and wrapping securely with moss and twine. The result is a living sculptural object that can be hung up or placed in a shallow dish – perfect as a gift or for decorating your home.
In this workshop Little Wild Things owner, Becky Rawlinson, will help you make your own soil mix for the Kokedama before showing you how to wrap them in moss and twine. Everyone will get to make a string hanger for their Kokedama and can take a terracotta dish away with them to sit it in. All materials, including a plant (a fern or plant of similar size), are covered in the ticket price as well as light refreshments.
The workshop will take place at the Studio 6 at The Hive, Kindly hosted by Barbra Kolasinski.
The workshop will last approximately 2.5 hours with time for a short break and some provided refreshments.
