Quality over Quantity - everyone of our traders is handpicked by us and they are all brands we love and know you’ll love them too. All our traders are friendly, positive people who share our values, energy and passion for markets and local trade.
Support Local - We practice what we preach and we source everything we need to run Super Market locally From furniture, design, printing, hardware, staff, business support - it all comes from Glasgow or very nearby. We support local to help our economies grow.
Community - We hope Super Market is doing its part to change the world (one local sale at a time) but we understand we can’t help everyone - that is why we partner up with community partners who are doing just that. We offer space for free to Social enterprises who bring creativity to everyone through affordable workshops, we work with charity venues to support them with revenue and exposure and where we can we raise funds for charities directly - we raised almost £8000 in 2018.
Super Market is for Everyone - we believe events should be for everyone and we pride ourselves on making our venues accessible, friendly, safe spaces.
Diversity is important to us - Not only are the majority of our traders female we have a great selection of traders from BAME backgrounds. When we first created Super Market we worked with a local charity who supports new citizens to Scotland from BAME backgrounds and provided them with a free stall and they provided us with the most unbelievably talented crafts people from all over the world - many of whom are now regular traders with us.
SuperMarket is run by Kelly Conway. Kelly moved to Glasgow in 2016 after falling in love with the city after a short visit. She first lived in the Barras Market area and has since moved to the West End of the city with her partner Ralph and Boe the beagle.
'I started my market life with a Vintage & Flea market in the Barras, Glasgow - My idea behind the creation of the market was really a formation of 2 ideas, the first being creating an event which helps younger people to get into Antiques, Vintage & Second Hand items.
I myself have been involved in Antiques since I was a child, 4 generations of my family having been involved in the trade and I found myself to be one of the very few young people involved in the trade and I really wanted to change this and also the attitude to the industry as a whole.
The second reason behind the formation of the Glasgow Vintage & Flea Market was my passion for social history, and more specifically the history of The Barras Markets and markets as a whole. The Barras market has such a rich history and many people in Glasgow remember it as the place to be on the weekends for shopping, with the emergence of high street shops and shopping online and the general disrepair in the area meant that this rich history began to dwindle and sole traders suffered as a result. The market celebrates the pleasure of buying from a passionate stallholder, someone who loves their craft, finding a unique item and learning about its history. The market also bought a whole new audience to the Calton & Barras area with nearly 2000 people through the doors on the first day. The community in Calton have been such a source of help and support for my market and myself.
My next project was Super Market Glasgow - a way to mix up the very best in vintage & antiques sellers with the most amazing small creative businesses. Again Super Market was a run away success with nearly 10,000 visitors over christmas 2018, almost £50,000 in sales in our final weekend in 2019 and with each market it is going strength to strength.
Not only is the market giving outlets for income for sole traders in the area, becoming one of the most successful small business incubators in the city it is also encouraging people to become involved in and explore the community. The market creates income for small businesses, attracts new visitors to Glasgow and provides an event locals can be proud to be a part of.

Scottish market events company is leading the way in marketplace e-commerce with the launch of an innovative new online shopping experience to support independent brands this Christmas.
Super Market Events, who have been running creative market events across Glasgow since 2017, saw their bustling and successful business grind to a sudden halt earlier this year. Lockdown and further Covid-19 restrictions have made it impossible for them to operate in their usual live events format. Having a huge knock on effect for both themselves and the hundreds of independent traders that their events support each month.
With Christmas fast approaching, Super Market Events founder Kelly Conway wanted to find a way of bringing their much loved market experience to people virtually and embrace a ‘Digital Christmas’.
“2020 has undoubtedly had it’s challenges, but it has also allowed us the space to look at the business and be open to doing things differently. It’s been amazing to reconnect with all our brands and offer them an innovative platform to sell their products during such a crucial trading period. We’re so excited to launch Supermarket Virtual and bring Supermarket Events back to life for Christmas!”
